Oak before ash or ash before oak: a dead heat

“Oak before ash, we’re in for a splash. Ash before oak, we’re in for a soak.” So the saying goes.  This year, here, it is a dead heat, with both species just breaking into leaf this week. I guess that means a year of “ordinary” weather, whatever that is!

  1. I guess it means there’s going to be rain, and plenty of it, either way 😉 I hope you fare better on the weather front than we do here at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales

    1. I’m sure you’re right about the rain. And, although this is Wales, and people tend to think it’s not very warm or sunny, we are actually very lucky weather-wise really, touch wood. I admire your tenacity for gardening in the Dales!
