Bee-bitten bell heather

Bees need a long tongue to reach the nectar in bell heather flowers. Bees with shorter tongues (or maybe just lazy bees looking for an easy option) bite through the flowers. That’s exactly what’s been happening here: if you look closely, you can see the neat circular holes cut out by the bees.
